Meet Pondurance: Nicole Sigler
Pondurance November 12, 2021
For this month’s employee spotlight, we spoke with Nicole Sigler, who became interested in cybersecurity and used networking to join Pondurance. The constant changes in cybersecurity are exciting to Nicole and bring her new challenges to solve every day.
What led you to your career in cybersecurity?
I started my career in IT compliance and audit. Networking and reaching out to peers and colleagues led me to explore a role in manufacturing working in Information Asset Protection, where I worked closely with the IT security team. As my career progressed, I became more interested in cybersecurity and used networking again to join Pondurance. I love the challenges and constant changing that occurs in cybersecurity.
What is a typical day like for you?
The nice thing about this position is that every day is different. Some days I’m in meetings interviewing clients, other days I’m testing security controls and conducting vendor risk assessments, and some days I’m writing reports. Every day brings something new.
What is your proudest accomplishment in your career to date?
I am most proud of the certifications I have obtained (PCI DSS QSA, CISM, CISA) and the connections I have made throughout my career. Also, I am proud that my clients see me as a trusted advisor for their security needs.
What advice have you been given that stuck with you?
I once had a manager that said, “Do not just come to me with problems, but solutions.” This has always been something I have tried to do in my career. Even if I do not know the answer to a problem, I can at least propose possible solutions.
What advice would you give to others looking to enter the technology field?
Network, network, network!! Also, continue to study and research as things are changing rapidly in cybersecurity. If you put your mind to something, you can achieve it with some hard work and dedication.
Anything else you would like to add?
I want to thank Ron Pelletier, Founder and CCO, for reaching out and giving me the opportunity to work at Pondurance. It has been an awesome 7 years and I’m looking forward to many more.
